latino community. >> it will be worth it in the end. it will be fun and it will be hard. one man with a bike and a mission. what is inspiring him to ride across the country. good evening, i'm juliette goodrich. ann notarangelo is off tonight. the coroner identified the 19-year-old shot by san francisco police saturday. his name is kenneth harding and he has family in seattle. as linda yee learned police there wanted to talk to him about a fatal shooting there. >> reporter: a witness video posted on youtube documents the minutes after the shooting. the suspect is down. police surround him. and the crowd becomes increasingly agitated. >> one, two, three, four, five, six. >> reporter: on the grounds according to the witness a weapon. missed by officers but picked up by someone in the crowd. police looked at that video, identified the person and recovered the gun today. investigators believe it is the same 45 caliber weapon used by

the suspect to shoot at officers yesterday afternoon. >> the suspect fled on foot during the course of the foot pursuit at this point we believe the suspect fired backwards at the officers. the officers returned fire in self-defense. >> reporter: late today police chief revealing new information about the dead suspect. he was a 19-year-old parolee from washington state and was a person of interest in the shooting of four people in seattle including a woman who was killed. today bayview residents were angry gathering on the muni platform where police first confronted the suspect. they claim police shot an unarmed man. >> the man did not have a gun. they shot that man and let that man die in front of my face, in fronts of these kids' faces out here. >> reporter: dozens of officers stood by and watched while protestors chanted. >> you can see the frustration. there is no relationship between the community and the police departments obviously.

they show up on motorcycles, riot gear. so it becomes intimidating to these young people so they are excited and they lost a loved one so the the excitement is bringing about this. the ancestors inside of them are crying out today. >> reporter: no less than four different groups are looking into this case including homicide investigators, internal affairs, the district attorney and the office of citizens' complaints. in san francisco, linda yee, cbs5. one person was killed and three more were hurt in four shootings in oakland. they happened within nine hours of each other. a 28-year-old man was killed last night in west oakland. he was shot while driving his suv at 19th and west streets. police have no motive or suspects. that was oakland's 65th homicide of the year. three other people are recovering from three shootings between 1 p.m. yesterday afternoon an 9:30 last night. two of the victims managed to get themselves to the hospital. the third was treated and released. no suspects in any of these

shootings. a violent video game that goes on sale next week has already made some enemies right now. among them several mexican lawmakers and a bay area group fighting negative images of latinos. kiet do shows us the game's ties to mexico's drug war. >> reporter: the drug war in mexico that has left more than 40 knew people dead seeing increasingly gruesome executions and strained relations with the u.s. now has its own video game titled call of warez, the cartel. plenty of violence, sex, blood and even more violence. you can play as one of the cops or as one of the many thugs from a mexican drug cartel. >> i was disgusted. >> reporter: she heads the mexican heritage corporation. part of their mission is to combat negative media about latinos. >> it was a celebration of

when the terrorists went down and it just really struck a cord with me seeing that and i just was trying to think of the best way to kind of tip my hat to him. >> reporter: now ruff is setting off on the challenge of a lifetime to honor fallen firefighters from new york and throughout the nation, ruff is going to try to make it from san francisco all the way to ground zero on his bike in time for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. >> biking across the country going from fire station to fire station along the way hoping to raise awareness about fallen firefighters. >> reporter: in his binder contacts at all of those fire stations and cities big and small. >> salt lake city. denver. omaha. >> reporter: ruff's planned journey has been written about in several firefighting publications when this retired firefighter read about it he opened up his san francisco home. >> when i saw what he was doing i thought i had to get involved in it.

this is something that speaks to me. >> reporter: ruff is the first to admit his is an effort from the heart and does not have logistical support. he doesn't have a vehicle to follow on the route that will cover more than 4400 miles. >> it will be tough. going through the desert. that's not going to be fun. climbing the mountains is not going to be fun. it is going to be hard. but it is going to be worth it in the end. but one thing he does have passion for what he is attempting to do. >> spending a year working for something and to be here a great feeling. >> his journey will begin here tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. members of the san francisco fire department will be escorting him for the first little ways of his journey. hoping to get to watsonville before he begins the long journey to the east. >> admirable. just that basket in the back
